Uma Durairaj is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care across the lifespan. She currently practices at Coastal Mental Health Center, providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management through both in-person and telehealth visits, and also sees patients on a PRN basis at Ormond Beach Urgent Care. Uma earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from South University in Tampa, graduating with high honors, and completed her psychiatric specialty training at the University of Cincinnati. She began her nursing career with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science from SRIPMS in Coimbatore, India. She later earned an MBA in Hospital Management, giving her a well-rounded perspective on both clinical care and healthcare operations.
With five years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Uma conducts thorough psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations, develops individualized, evidence-based treatment plans, and provides ongoing monitoring to help her patients progress toward their goals. Her background also spans primary care, urgent care, and family medicine, where she has diagnosed and treated acute and chronic conditions while coordinating closely with collaborating physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Her extensive telehealth experience allows her to reach patients of all ages with the same attentiveness she brings to in-person visits.
Uma is known for her active listening, clear communication, and steady, adaptable approach in fast-paced clinical settings. She believes good mental health care starts with genuinely hearing each patient’s story, and she builds treatment plans that respect each individual’s circumstances and goals. Holding an active, autonomous APRN license in Florida and DEA registration, Uma remains committed to providing attentive, collaborative care that helps her patients move forward with confidence.
