Oran James, M.A., RMHCI, is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern dedicated to helping children, adolescents, adults, and couples navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and purpose. With a mature perspective shaped by both clinical training and lived experience, Oran brings a grounded and practical approach to therapy. He is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
Oran earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands, where he received comprehensive training in counseling theory, clinical assessment, and evidence-based treatment approaches. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in Florida. His clinical training includes psychosocial and biopsychosocial assessments, DSM-5-informed treatment planning, risk and safety assessments, and individualized interventions for a range of mental health concerns.
Before joining Harmony United Psychiatric Care, Oran provided outpatient behavioral health services at Elite DNA Behavioral Health and Lutheran Counseling Services. His experience includes individual and couples therapy with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, adjustment disorders, grief, behavioral challenges, autism spectrum-related concerns, and relational stress. He has conducted comprehensive assessments, developed individualized treatment plans, monitored client progress, and supported emotional regulation, coping skills, and treatment engagement through both in-person and telehealth care.
Oran’s professional journey also includes more than 16 years as an Information Systems Program Manager with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. In that role, he developed strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and crisis-management skills while coordinating teams and complex workflows in highly regulated environments. These experiences complement his clinical work by bringing a thoughtful, disciplined, and solution-focused perspective to his relationships with clients.
Oran is trained in CBT, DBT-informed therapy, supportive therapy, trauma-informed care, and person-centered therapy. His clinical interests include trauma recovery, anxiety management, men’s mental health, relationship dynamics, and major life transitions such as marriage, divorce, co-parenting, and family restructuring. Drawing from his own experiences with marriage, divorce, co-parenting, raising children into adulthood, and becoming a grandfather, he offers clients a relatable and practical perspective when navigating family and relationship challenges.
Oran believes therapy works best as a collaborative partnership built on authenticity, trust, and shared goals. He works with clients to recognize their strengths, develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation and communication, and move toward lasting personal growth.
