Christina Roberts, RMHCI, is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals seeking meaningful and sustainable change. She brings specialized training in both mental health and substance use disorders, along with extensive experience in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) settings, to her work with clients across the lifespan.
Christina earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Before pursuing clinical counseling, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with secondary education certification from Virginia Wesleyan College and an Associate of Arts in Science from Tidewater Community College.
Christina has provided clinical services across individual therapy, group therapy, and recovery-focused programs, working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. She served as a Professional Counselor at New Season Treatment Center in Sarasota, where she developed individualized treatment plans, conducted comprehensive assessments for mental health and substance abuse patients, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic care. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Professional Counselor and Patient Services Representative at PORT Health Services in North Carolina, facilitating individual and group counseling sessions and fostering therapeutic relationships built on active listening, empathy, and nonjudgmental support.
Christina’s background in secondary education, including years spent as a Science Educator, gives her a unique ability to connect with adolescents in an authentic and relatable way. She builds rapport through patience, humor, and genuine curiosity about each teen’s world, helping them feel seen and valued. This strong therapeutic alliance allows her to guide adolescents through challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, and identity development while empowering them to build confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy decision-making skills. Her clinical strengths also include treating PTSD, codependency, and substance use disorders in adults and families seeking growth and emotional clarity, and she is currently expanding her expertise to support individuals recovering from coercive control relationships.
Christina’s work is grounded in person-centered care, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe, collaborative environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. She approaches every client with cultural humility, trauma-informed sensitivity, and unconditional positive regard, integrating CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based strategies to tailor treatment to each person’s unique needs. Outside of her clinical work, Christina enjoys fishing, camping, gardening, and exploring Florida’s natural spaces, and as a longtime Florida resident, she values her connection to the local community and coastal environment.
