Arlene Johnson, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping individuals build a path toward balanced and fulfilling mental wellness. Her passion for mental health was ignited early in her nursing career, and being an advocate for those living with mental health conditions has remained at the forefront of her work ever since. With well over a decade of experience across acute and chronic care settings, Arlene believes in a comprehensive approach that integrates both her psychiatric and medical background, grounded in evidence-based practice.
Arlene earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in 2023 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, also from Walden University, in 2021. She began her academic journey with an Associate of Science from Keiser University in Tallahassee, Florida. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and she maintains certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Arlene currently practices as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individualized treatment planning to patients across the lifespan. Her broader nursing background spans a wide range of clinical settings, including behavioral health nursing at a psychiatric hospital in Las Vegas, correctional nursing as a jail charge nurse coordinating care and treatment planning for incarcerated individuals, and general nursing practice in labor and delivery. Across these roles, she has developed strong skills in crisis intervention, psychiatric assessment, medication administration, and building therapeutic rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Throughout her career, Arlene has mentored junior nursing staff, streamlined care processes to improve patient outcomes, and worked closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive, individualized treatment plans. She has also promoted mental health awareness within her community through outreach and educational programs aimed at reducing stigma. Her clinical interests include ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, substance use disorders, and support for adolescents, veterans, and geriatric patients.
With her patient-centered approach tailored to the needs of each individual, Arlene fosters a caring therapeutic environment while empowering her patients to become the best version of themselves.
