Lilanna Ma’Keba Powell, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Qualified Supervisor, and Certified EMDR Therapist with extensive experience supporting individuals navigating trauma, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, and co-occurring mental health conditions. She is passionate about helping individuals move from surviving to thriving through compassionate, trauma-informed care rooted in empowerment and healing.
Ma’Keba earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Florida A&M University and her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. Before transitioning into behavioral health, she held leadership roles in grocery retail management before pursuing her passion for mental health counseling and advocacy.
Throughout her career, Ma’Keba has worked across residential treatment, outpatient substance use treatment, trauma recovery, child welfare, and community mental health settings. She previously helped support The Porch Light in becoming Florida’s first certified safe home for minor victims of sex trafficking and most recently served in leadership roles at The Recovery Village, where she developed trauma-focused programming and EMDR group therapy initiatives for individuals in residential treatment.
Ma’Keba specializes in trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, stress management, adjustment disorders, anger management, and child welfare-related concerns. Her therapeutic approach is person-centered and collaborative, utilizing evidence-based modalities including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
As a strong advocate for mental wellness, Ma’Keba is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health care and creating safe, supportive spaces where individuals can heal, grow, and thrive.
