Dr. Seth Mandel received his Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan. He has been board certified in psychiatry since 2001 and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Mandel has held numerous clinical and academic appointments, including serving as Chairperson of Psychiatry at Huntington Hospital in Huntington, New York, and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.

Dr. Mandel has more than 25 years of clinical experience working with patients spanning the entire spectrum of mental illness and substance use. He has a strong interest in mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, and has expertise working with patients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Dr. Mandel received a Borderline Personality Disorder Research Foundation Young Investigator Award and has also lectured on the pharmacologic management of this condition, including a presentation at the NIMH International Think Tank for the More Effective Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder.

In 2018, Dr. Mandel left academic medicine to focus on what he loves most, working directly with patients. He cofounded and helped grow MMHW Psychiatry, a private psychiatry practice in midtown Manhattan. While there, he shifted his treatment paradigm away from the traditional medical model of mental health treatment. Dr. Mandel completed a fellowship in integrative and functional psychiatry, and he emphasizes a comprehensive approach to prevention, and physical, as well as mental well-being.

A lifelong northeasterner, Dr. Mandel decided to relocate to the Orlando area in 2024. He joined Harmony United in September 2024 and will be seeing patients in person in Altamonte Springs and remotely through telepsychiatry. He plans to use the same holistic approach to patient care he utilized in New York and New Jersey to achieve the best possible outcome for all whom he is privileged to serve throughout his new home state of Florida.
