Yoneka Powell is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She first earned an Associate of Arts in Nursing at Santa Fe College, where she graduated in 2009. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida A&M University where she graduated Cum Laude in 2011. She initially wanted to be a critical care nurse, but after taking a position as a mental health nurse at UF Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital, she ended up staying in the mental health field.
After a year of working in the mental health field, she pursued her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree at the University of South Alabama. She completed the clinical experience for her Master’s at UF Health Shands Springhill – Gainesville FL, Park Place Behavioral – Kissimmee FL, and Aspire Health Partners – Orlando FL. She has 10+ years of working experience in the mental health field as an RN on inpatient units as well as a traveling mental health nurse.
