Sharon M. Krieger, MS, PMHCNS, FNP, APRN, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida, specializing in psychiatric-mental health. In addition, she completed doctoral coursework in Counseling Psychology at the University of Sarasota (now Argosy University), further expanding her clinical and academic expertise.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Ms. Krieger has provided comprehensive psychiatric and primary care services for individuals across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is the founder and CEO of Building New Horizons, Inc., a healthcare organization offering traditional medication management, psychotherapy, and alternative treatments. Her practice integrates evidence-based psychiatric care with innovative modalities such as EEG biofeedback and neurofeedback. She also holds BCIA certification in EEG Biofeedback and has practiced in collaboration with numerous psychiatric hospitals and treatment centers throughout Florida.
Ms. Krieger’s clinical interests include mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and holistic wellness. She emphasizes an integrative and patient-centered approach, combining medication management, psychotherapy, and functional strategies to promote balance and emotional resilience. Her extensive background in both family and psychiatric nursing enables her to provide well-rounded, compassionate care that addresses the mind, body, and spirit.
Raised in a military family, Ms. Krieger developed a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and adaptability, which continues to influence her therapeutic approach. She has lived and worked in various parts of the United States and abroad, ultimately settling in North Pinellas County, Florida, where she raised her two daughters. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, golf, snow-skiing, and spending time with family. Notably, in 2025, she fulfilled a lifelong goal by trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with her eldest daughter.
