Melissa Tamayo is a Certified Physician Assistant who graduated with Highest Honors from Nova Southeastern University with a Master’s degree in Medical Science. Prior to attaining this degree, she worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Tampa, Florida, while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology at the University of South Florida.
During her medical studies at Nova Southeastern University, she was trained in various disciplines of medicine including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry, to name a few. While training, she developed a passion for psychiatry, realizing that this is an important yet often underserved field of medicine. She has more than 5 years of experience serving as a physician assistant in psychiatry.
Melissa is bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish, and is a member of both the Florida Association of Physician Assistants and Alpha Eta Health Professions Honor Society. In her free time, she loves outdoor activities such as hiking and participating in half marathons. She enjoys helping others through volunteering as well as serving patients in the community.
