Marjan Naghavi, Ph.D., LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with more than 16 years of experience in the behavioral health field. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, a Master’s equivalency in Special Education, and a Doctorate in Education with a focus on organizational training and performance improvement. She is licensed in Florida and is in the process of obtaining additional licensure in Arizona.
Dr. Naghavi has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families across school systems, outpatient clinics, and community-based programs. She specializes in supporting clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD). In addition, she provides effective care for individuals struggling with co-occurring anxiety, depression, and other emotional or behavioral challenges.
Her therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based modalities, including Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. Dr. Naghavi places a strong emphasis on family and caregiver involvement, believing that collaboration enhances treatment effectiveness and continuity of care. She has also provided consultation and training for multidisciplinary teams and schools to strengthen mental health support systems and improve outcomes for students and families.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Naghavi has held leadership roles, including serving as Associate Director of Schools at Sheppard Pratt Health System in Maryland. In this role, she oversaw program development, curriculum enhancement, and staff training initiatives, ensuring quality educational and mental health services. She is also actively engaged in professional organizations such as the Autism Society and the Independent Consultants Educational Association (IECA).
