She has over 22 years of experience in the mental health field and has completed advanced training in trauma-focused therapies. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her master’s degree in Community Counseling from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
Krista began her career as a Milieu and Group Therapist at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC), where she worked primarily with the Center for Overcoming Problem Eating (COPE). She also supported various hospital units serving adults and children with mood disorders, general mental health concerns, and psychosis. Her work with COPE provided extensive experience with eating disorders, OCD, depression, anxiety, and trauma, laying a strong foundation for her broad clinical expertise.
After completing her master’s degree, Krista worked extensively with families and children and later provided services to adults in mental health, eating disorder, and substance abuse programs at The Recovery Village in Umatilla, Florida. During this time, she developed a strong appreciation for the importance of self-awareness as a core component of wellness.
She continued her clinical work at The Refuge – A Healing Place in Oklawaha, Florida, supporting mental health, trauma recovery, and eating disorder programs. There, she further strengthened her ability to help clients address the underlying causes of mental health concerns. Krista obtained certification in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), completed EMDR training, and began incorporating Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic approaches into her therapeutic work. She also has extensive experience with CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused therapies, with a strong emphasis on emotion regulation, attachment, and relational connection.
Krista is passionate about helping clients engage in deep internal work, embrace their authentic selves, and cultivate greater enjoyment in life, relationships, and personal well-being.
