Karen M. Brown, M.S., RMFTI, is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern dedicated to providing compassionate, results-driven care to individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. She takes a relational and systemic approach to therapy, helping clients feel safe, supported, and empowered as they work toward meaningful change. Karen is known for her sincere, collaborative style and for meeting clients where they are while fostering growth and accountability.
Karen earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, graduating with high academic distinction. Her clinical training and professional experience span a wide range of settings, including community mental health agencies, hospital-based programs, school environments, and court-involved family systems. She has extensive experience working with high-risk adolescents, court-mandated families, and individuals navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges.
Her clinical areas of focus include mood disorders, anger management, emotional dysregulation, trauma-related concerns, family conflict, co-parenting, oppositional behaviors, substance-related issues, and relationship distress. Karen works with children (ages 11–18), adults, couples, and families, including those involved in the family court system. She integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Bowen Family Systems, and relational therapy.
Karen values culturally responsive, ethical, and trauma-informed care. She collaborates closely with psychiatry, case management, schools, and court systems, as appropriate, to support holistic outcomes. She is passionate about strengthening family systems, restoring healthy communication, and helping clients build resilience and personal growth through connection and evidence-based treatment.
