Jannia Méndez, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Education from the University of Central Florida. In 2017, she completed her Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Nursing at the University of Miami and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of North Florida. Jannia is bilingual in English and Spanish and holds licensure in multiple states, along with national certifications.
Jannia has worked extensively across diverse clinical settings including community mental health centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and telepsychiatry services. Her practice spans care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, with expertise in psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and collaborative treatment planning. She currently provides psychiatric services at Coastal Mental Health Center and has also contributed to clinical education as faculty at Walden University, where she mentors future psychiatric nurse practitioners.
Known for her compassionate and empathetic care, Jannia emphasizes the importance of therapeutic relationships grounded in respect and open communication. Her background in nursing education, leadership, and clinical psychiatry enables her to approach care holistically, understanding both the physical and mental aspects of health.
