James Nguyen, Psy.D., is a Postdoctoral Psychologist with advanced training in clinical psychology and a commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care. He earned his doctoral and master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, where he also completed extensive training across diverse medical and behavioral health settings. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in Sport-Exercise Psychology from Argosy University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida.
Dr. Nguyen has gained broad clinical experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings. He has completed training at Broward Health Medical Center, Jackson Health System, Goodman Jewish Family Services, and Boys Town Behavioral Health, where he currently serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in child and adolescent psychology. His expertise includes conducting comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments, providing individual and family therapy, and supporting patients navigating complex behavioral and medical challenges.
His therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and a person-centered framework to empower clients in their growth and recovery. Dr. Nguyen’s professional interests include treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, health-related concerns, and sport-related psychological challenges. He is also dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and inclusion within mental health care, having presented research and workshops on Asian American youth mental health, discrimination, and resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending quality time with his family, watching football and basketball, and playing video games. He values balance, cultural identity, and connection—qualities he strives to bring into both his personal life and professional practice.
