Dr. Efrain Mendez, M.D., is a Board Eligible, Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish) Psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience in the field of General Psychiatry and 30 years of overall medical experience. He graduated from medical school in 1991 from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. He completed his Residency Training in General Psychiatry at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, affiliated with Cornell University, in 2007.
After completing his residency, he worked in Brooklyn, NY as an outpatient psychiatrist, before coming to Florida a year later, where he has been practicing since.
Dr. Mendez has experience in multiple settings including Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Psychiatry, and Correctional Psychiatry, treating patients 18 years and older. He has experience in evaluation and management of patients with mood disorders, substance abuse, psychotic disorders, and multiple other mental health conditions. He has been employed in the Correctional Mental Health System. He also has experience working with Substance Abuse clients in a Marchman Act Facility.
Dr. Mendez’s approach to treatment is based on the comprehensive evaluation of the different factors that may be affecting someone’s mental health to address any stressors that may be producing the symptoms. He has extensive knowledge and experience in medication management.
