Carmelisa M. Baptiste is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. She earned her Associate of Science in Nursing at Excelsior University in Albany, New York, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Aspen University in Phoenix, Arizona, and her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Herzing University in Madison, Wisconsin.
Carmelisa spent 21 years in the Army and retired with 21 years of service as a 1st lieutenant. She started her nursing journey in med-surg and then found a love for geriatric/nursing home patients. She has worked in various settings, from hospitals, Long Term Care, Skilled Nursing, and as a travel nurse. Carmelisa found her love for mental health when she started working for a Psych Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. She has worked with various age groups, from children to adults, and on an acute mental health unit.
She has over 18 years of clinical experience in nursing. Carmelisa’s goal is to create a patient-provider relationship utilizing evidenced-based practices and a plan of care to address the patient’s concerns and issues. Carmelisa’s goal is to develop therapeutic relationships, encourage open communication, and cultivate a supportive environment for patients.
She has experience working with various psychiatric disorders, including Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Personality Disorders, and ADHD.
