Arthur Barfield, LMHC, is a Florida-licensed mental health counselor with over 30 years of clinical experience providing compassionate, evidence-based care to adults from diverse backgrounds. He holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and recently retired from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he spent the last 15 years working in the PTSD and Trauma Clinic at the Tampa VA Hospital. Mr. Barfield is also a U.S. military veteran, having served six years on active duty, which strongly informs his clinical perspective and commitment to serving others.
Throughout his career, Mr. Barfield has practiced in a wide range of settings, including forensic mental health with incarcerated populations, private practice, hospital systems, and group practice environments. He has extensive experience working with individuals coping with trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, and complex life stressors. His diverse background allows him to approach treatment with flexibility, depth, and a strong appreciation for each client’s lived experience.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Barfield has served as an adjunct professor at a local community college, where he taught undergraduate psychology courses. His academic and clinical experience contribute to a thoughtful, well-informed therapeutic approach that integrates theory, research, and real-world application.
