Judy Johnson-Howey is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing in 1996 from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo, and her master of science in nursing from Walden University. Judy’s nursing career began 25 years ago with an extensive background with the maternal-child health population. She has also served patients in the public health sector, case management, private practice, and worked with medication-assisted treatment for substance and alcohol abuse.
Judy’s training includes family psychiatric care to provide care across the lifespan, treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, neurobehavioral disorders (ADHD), neurocognitive disorders (dementia), sleep disorders, and everything in between. She embeds a compassionate approach into the treatment plan. She provides medication management, but incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy into patient care and prides herself on patient education. Mental health is not just a job for Judy, it is a career she is passionate about, as is the nursing profession. She strives to reduce the stigma that mental health can bring. She aims to provide patient-centered care.
Judy and her husband David, are from the Kansas City, Missouri area. She enjoys outdoor activities, thrifting, rehabbing furniture, and art/painting. Judy is mom to 2 fur children and 3 grown humans that have gifted her with 5 precious grandchildren.
