Howie Hu, MS, RMHCI is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with a strong background in clinical mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and trauma-focused therapy. He holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands, where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA. He also earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from Fort Hays State University, graduating cum laude in both fields.

Howie has extensive experience in providing individual and group therapy, specializing in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-focused interventions. He has worked with diverse populations, including individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and personality disorders. His clinical experience includes working in both outpatient and forensic settings, where he has provided therapeutic interventions for court-mandated clients, individuals with substance use disorders, and survivors of trauma.

Before his career in mental health, Howie served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army and later worked with the Department of State in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he provided diplomatic security services. His military and international experience have shaped his ability to remain calm under pressure and foster a deep sense of cultural sensitivity in his practice. He is fluent in Chinese Mandarin and brings a unique multicultural perspective to his therapeutic approach.

Howie believes in a holistic, client-centered approach to mental health care that integrates existential philosophy, psychodynamics, and neurobiology. He is passionate about helping individuals take ownership of their personal growth and healing. In his personal time, he enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, traveling, and exploring philosophy and classical literature.
